4 hurt when taxi careens into scaffolding

A yellow taxi careened into scaffolding outside a Gramercy Park bank, sending four people to the hospital.

The out-of-control SUV crashed into the scaffolding in front of TD Bank at Park Avenue South and East 21th Street just before 2 a.m.

Four people, believed to be passengers and the driver, were taken to Bellevue Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The buildings department responded to check the structural integrity of the scaffolding.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
