Suspects attempt to run over plainclothed officers

WILLISTON PARK, New York

The officers, part of a narcotics unit, were watching the suspects allegedly dealing drugs near the Ten Minute Oil Change on Willis Avenue.

But the two suspects spotted the officers and jumped into their white Mercedes, with Florida license plates.

According to police, they sped at the officers, attempting multiple times to run over them over. At one point, the suspects put the car into reverse to try again.

The Mercedes smashed into the officers' unmarked police car, and then sped off.

The officers, who were not hit, fired shots into the Mercedes, blowing out the rear window. The suspects, however, were not hit.

Police scoured the neighborhood looking for the suspects, and found the Mercedes abandoned near Coventry Avenue and Albertson Avenue in neighboring Albertson.

They spotted the suspects fleeing from the car on foot, and chased them on the ground and with a helicopter. They were quickly taken into custody.

Charges against the two are pending. Police were also looking for weapons that may have been discarded by the suspects.
