A new exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York opens February 8th focusing on the Apollo Theater, and how it has shaped American culture.

The Apollo Theater is legendary and the exhibit called "Aint nothing like the real thing" looks at the history of the theater that dates back nearly 100 years.

There was a short period when the theater closed, but since 2001 its audience has been growing to over 400,000 people a year.

The exhibit was organized by the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture will be on display until May 1, 2011.
