Fire at Manhattan Borough president's apartment

August 9, 2010 3:57:49 AM PDT
An intense, three-alarm fire broke out around 4 a.m. Sunday at an apartment building on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Flames and smoke poured from windows as firefighters concentrated their efforts to stop the spread of flames on the top floor of the building, located on 71st Street between Broadway and Columbus Avenue.

The fire scared many residents of the building, which include Manhattan's Borough President Scott Stringer, but no injuries were reported.

The firefighters were able to bring that fire under control within an hour.

Firefighters say the fire does not appear suspicious.
