Allergy shots in a pill may work

NEW YORK A review of 19 clinical trials found that therapies in droplet or tablet form can help allergy symptoms.

Allergy shots work by exposing people over time to small amounts of the pollen that can cause allergic symptoms.

These newer therapies also seem to create the same effect. They have been become commonly used in Europe.

Researchers in the U.S. say more research is needed to determine which patients might be most likely to benefit.

There is more on this research in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
