The body of a soldier from New Jersey who was killed in Iraq is back in the United States Wednesday.

Authorities say 24-year-old U.S. Army specialist Jamal Rhett, of Palmyra, was killed last Sunday when insurgents attacked his convoy.

It happened in a town northeast of Baghdad.

Rhett joined the army in 2007 and was a combat medic. He was on his second tour in Iraq.

Plans for his funeral are under way.
