He is accused of luring the five teens into an abandoned house in Newark and then setting the home on fire.
The crime happened back in 1978.
Evans was arrested just this year.
A judge lowered his bail from $5 million to $950,000 after family members put up three properties.
Evans has maintained his innocence.
