Rough waves and rip currents spawned by Hurricane Danielle could make for dangerous swimming conditions along the Jersey Shore this weekend.

At least 1 beach, Ortley Beach, was forced to close due to the rough surf.

Swells kicked up by the storm were expected to build as the weekend progressed, and they could continue through Monday.

Yellow flags have been posted at most sites to warn swimmers about the conditions.

Officials warn that swimmers should only be in areas where lifeguards are stationed and should not swim alone - even if waters don't appear to be risky - because the tides and currents can change quickly and unexpectedly.
