A wake and funeral service are being held for a 25-year-old Connecticut soldier killed in a firefight in Afghanistan.

Calling hours for Army Sgt. Steven DeLuzio, of South Glastonbury, are scheduled for Sunday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St.

Paul's Roman Catholic Church in his hometown.

His funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at the same church.

DeLuzio and 21-year-old Sgt. Tristan Southworth, of Walden, Vt., died Sunday in a prolonged gunbattle after their unit was attacked by insurgents with small arms and rocket-propelled grenades in the Paktika Province of Afghanistan.

DeLuzio was a member of the Vermont National Guard and a 2003 graduate of Glastonbury High School. His brother, Scott, is a member of the Connecticut National Guard.
