Boil water advisory for Bedford Hills, Katonah

August 30, 2010 3:31:05 PM PDT
Due to a major water main break, residents of Bedford Hills and Katonah in the Town of Bedford are advised to boil their water before drinking it or using it for food preparation, as a precaution and until further notice.

The advisory is in place due to low or no water pressure throughout the Bedford Consolidated Water District.

About 2,137 homes and businesses are in this water district and the water district has not located the water main break at this time.

A boil water advisory means that residents in the affected communities are advised to boil all tap water at a rolling boil for a minimum of one minute prior to drinking it or using it for food preparation.

The boil water advisory is being issued as a precaution to protect from potential contamination caused by ground water infiltration into water mains.

Updates on locations of the break and repairs will be provided by the water district as they become available.

For those residents experiencing no water pressure, please contact the Town of Bedford Water Department at 914-666-7855.
