Suffolk County police say the body of Rigoberto Gomez, of Bay Shore, was discovered at 2:31 a.m. Monday in Freeman Avenue Park in Brentwood. They say someone called 911 to report shots being fired there.
The man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call its Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
