Police say 28-year-old William Cobb and the woman were sprayed by bullets as they drove on 153rd Street at 107th Avenue in South Jamaica.
Their Ford Windstar went out of control and crashed into the sidewalk.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests were immediately made.
Police said Cobb had a record of felony arrests, including for promoting prostitution. He was recently released from jail.
