Study looks at train riders drinking preferences

NEW YORK

According to the New York Times, Long Island Rail Road passengers prefer a stiff drink on the ride home. Nearly one in three drink sales on the LIRR are spirits.

Metro-North riders, on the other hand, prefer wine.

Metro-North sells nearly twice as much wine as the LIRR.

The MTA says $9 million worth of drinks and snacks were sold on both train lines last year.
