If you're putting on the pounds it could be because you aren't getting enough sleep.

A study shows how much shut eye you get may be just as important as how much you eat when it comes to slimming down.

According to The American College of Physicians, a lack of sleep may hinder a person's ability to shed fat.

Researchers found dieters who slept 8.5 hours a night lost 56% more fat than those who slept only 5.5 hours.

They also found even short periods of sleep deprivation can affect weight loss.
