Bus-only lanes now on 1st, 2nd Avenues

NEW YORK

Dedicated bus-only lanes went into service Sunday on First and Second avenues from 125th Street to Houston Street.

Along the route, passengers can now pay their fares before boarding at machines on the street. The M15 bus that runs along that route will now make fewer stops as well.

The city said it could take 90 minutes to travel just 8.5 miles from 125th Street to South Ferry. The M15 bus typically moved at less than six miles per hour.
