MTA becoming good neighbors along 2nd Ave.

NEW YORK

The 2nd Avenue subway construction will soon stretch 30 blocks and the business owners and restaurants have been complaining about decreased business and no visibility.

That is all about to change.

The MTA says that it plans to repave sidewalks, clean-up the garbage, widen walkways for pedestrians, try to keep noise to a minimum, paint concrete barriers, install new lighting, repaint crosswalks and cover fences with "Shop Second Avenue" banners.

The MTA also plans to explain on its website,www.mta.info, the hours when construction will take place and provide maps that point out businesses.
