The Pace University football team plans to honor slain teammate Danroy Henry at its first game since the 20-year-old student was shot by police in New York.

Pace University said Thursday the tribute prior to its home game against the University of New Haven on Saturday will include a moment of silence. The team will also symbolically play without Henry by fielding a defensive squad of only 10 players for the first defensive play of the game.

The Massachusetts student was killed when two officers fired at his moving car while responding to a disturbance in Thornwood.

Police and witnesses accounts differ. A lawyer for the victim's family has called for the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate.

Henry's family is holding a memorial service Friday in Boston.
