Deadline looming for government heating assistance

If you rely on government heating assistance, it may no longer be available just as winter sets in.

Lawmakers say those who need help would lose it if Congress doesn't restore funding by December 3.

More than 60,000 Long Island households rely on heating assistance.

State programs would run out of money next month if the House and Senate don't fund the $5-billion program.
