The somber ceremony was held in Belle Harbor, marking nine years since the tragic crash.

The plane took off from Kennedy Airport and was headed for the Dominican Republic when it went down.

All 260 people on board the plane and five people on the ground were killed.

At the service, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg spoke of the unity forged among the families of the victims.

After the speeches and a moment of silence, the group walked to the memorial wall to place flowers by the names of those who died in the crash.
