Jose Goncalves, 52, of Union was struck and killed in the vicinity of Park Avenue and 7th Street.
He was standing outside his lunch truck, Joe's Café, with his wife, Vania Goncalves when he was hit.
His wife was also grazed by the BMW.
Mr. Goncalves was rushed to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:56 a.m. His wife was treated and released.
The driver of the BMW, Sharese Fisher, 31, of East Orange, was treated for shock.
Police did not release other details. No charges have been filed.
