For many, it will be their first experience getting one of those very personal, some are saying invasive, security pat-downs.
The TSA agreed to allow uniformed airline pilots to skip the body scanners, and the alternative: full-body pat-downs.
Yet, as the holiday travel season swings into full-gear, a similar break for regular passengers is unlikely.
Some people at LaGuardia Airport said getting a pat-down didn't bother them.
But some critics who have undergone the procedure say they felt violated.
Now a loosely organized internet campaign is seeking to protest the new system.
Telling people to refuse the body scanners and demand pat-downs, to clog up security lines.
The TSA says during the pat-downs, a screener of the same sex will examine your head, shirt collar, and waistband.
They can now also use the front of their hands to feel your body, which includes your buttocks, breasts, between your legs, feeling up to the top of the thigh.
In the past, agents used only the back of their hands in the pat-downs.
