The incident happened around 6 p.m. at the intersection of East 167th Street and Jerome Avenue.
Police say the victim, 39-year-old Graziano Abreu, was hit by a dark-colored jeep Sunday night. The driver then fled the scene.
Abreu, who was crossing the street at the time, was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
There are no arrests at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
