Gov. Paterson brings back LIPA solar rebates

November 24, 2010 3:47:26 AM PST
Solar rebates for Long Island Power Authority customers are coming back.

After suspending the program October 1, Governor David Paterson announced they would be funded as part of a federal stimulus package.

The program subsidizes around a third of the cost of solar systems.

Officials say 1,100 customers signed up this year alone, more than in the first 10 years of the program combined.

The program will start accepting applications December 1.
