NYC expands school closing list to 26

NEW YORK

The list includes elementary schools, middle schools and high schools to be closed over the next three years. It includes one charter school, the Ross Global Academy Charter School in the East Village. That school has gone through six principals in five years.

The city tried to close 19 schools last year, but the teachers union sued to block the closings.

United Federation of Teachers President Michael Mulgrew said the union will monitor the school closing process closely and will take legal action if necessary.
