Cop survives being shot in the face in Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn.

Officer Richard Gasparino was shot through a door of a Lockwood Avenue home as he prepared to serve a search warrant in Stamford's Cove neighborhood just before 6 p.m. Thursday.

Gasparino, a member of the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit, was hit in the neck and cheek.

The 10-year veteran was rushed to Stamford Hospital, where he is in stable condition. He is expected to survive.

Two suspects are now under arrest.

Officials did not immediately identify the alleged assailants.
