Fundraiser for laid off Newark police

Newark police officers threw a holiday fundraiser on Sunday night to help dozens of their own who were laid off in a massive budget squeeze.

About 100 current and former officers and their families crowded the XL lounge in Newark.

There was a buffet, raffles and prizes all to benefit the "let's all make it happen" fund.

The fund has already raised $20,000 to benefit the 167 officers laid off in November.

The officers were laid off to help close Newark's $83 million budget gap.
