Census: NY growth ebbs, 2 seats in Congress lost

December 21, 2010 3:17:41 PM PST
New York is set to lose two seats in Congress as the state's slow growth has been outpaced in other states.

That's according to figures from the 2010 census released in Washington Tuesday morning.

New York's current 29-member Congressional delegation will drop to 27. That's the lowest number since 1823.

The Democratic-controlled Assembly and newly Republican-led state Senate are tasked with drawing the new districts.
