Study links baby formula type to obesity

NEW YORK

The research finds babies who are fed cow's milk formula gained more weight than babies on formula made with proteins that are pre-digested.

The differences showed up after 2 1/2 months.

The babies on cow's milk formula, the most popular type, were heavier and continued to gain weight faster than those on the other formula for the next five months.

The study is in the journal Pediatrics.
