Slushy mess affecting mass transit in NYC

January 18, 2011 3:53:00 AM PST
With snow and ice expected into the morning rush hour, all MTA agencies have activated winter weather plans to keep tracks and platforms clear and safe.

NYC Transit had been running only local service on the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, B, D, N, R and Q lines, but has resumed express service on all but the A line.

Metro-North is currently experiencing 45-minute delays between Stamford and New Haven.

LIRR is advising customers to allow extra travel time during the AM commute and to use extra caution while boarding or exiting trains, platforms and staircase areas because of possible icy conditions.

Alternate Side Parking Regulations are suspended citywide Tuesday. Payment at parking meters will remain in effect.
