7 people, 3 firefighters injured in Jamaica fire

JAMAICA, QUEENS

The fire in the three-story building on 89th Avenue in Jamaica started in the basement just after 5 a.m.

By 6 a.m. firefighters had stopped it from spreading to other parts of the building.

A 31-year-old man suffered from life threatening burns and is at Jamaica Hospital.

Three firefighters suffered burns to their faces, but all of their injuries are said to be minor.

Six other people were rushed in serious condition to Jamaica Hospital, all are expected to survive.
