N.J. woman attempts murder for the second time

FREEHOLD, N.J. A grand jury in Monmouth County on Monday indicted Kathleen Dorsett and her mother, Lesley, for the attempted murder of Evlyn Moore.

The panel also indicted Kathleen Dorsett and her 64-year-old father, Thomas, for the August murder of her former husband, Stephen Moore.

The Asbury Park Press reports prosecutors said the former third-grade teacher wanted her ex-mother-in-law dead because the woman had been awarded temporary custody of her granddaughter after the homicide.

Authorities claim Kathleen Dorsett asked fellow inmates for the name of a hitman and told her mother to give him a $1,000 down payment.

The hitman turned out to be an undercover officer.
