WABC's Anthony Johnson presented Sade with the award during a special event sponsored by McDonald's at the Waldorf Astoria.
It was a kick-off to Black History Month.
During the ceremony the 2011 "Faces of Black History" poster was unveiled which includes Sade and 16 other honorees.
The commemorative posters will be given away this month for free at more than 600 McDonald's throughout the tri-state area.
