2 NYC cops accused of writing fake traffic tickets

Two New York City police officers have been charged with writing fake summonses while on traffic duty.

Police Officers Stephen Gerwer and Vincent Adinolfi, both assigned to the 122nd Precinct on Staten Island, were arrested Thursday after turning themselves in.

A police spokesman said they were charged with tampering with public records, filing a false instrument, falsifying business records and official misconduct. Both were suspended without pay.

No other details were immediately available.
