Even with all the digital technology out there, it's sometimes hard for parents to get a great picture of their kids; the kids are fussing, the light isn't right, and they won't sit still.
But there's a new photo studio that has a new approach to saying cheese.
"I'm really excited, it's so cool to get my hair done, make up and stuff," said Avery Verona, a 10-year-old.
Verona is getting camera ready, and so are her friends.
It's their star turn, and it's happening at "Photo Op", a new photo studio on the Upper West Side that gives a modern twist to traditional portraiture.
Nathan Gindi got the photography advice from Brian Marcus, whose family has been long established wedding photographers.
Turns out brides and kids can be equally eager to have their photos taken.
There's a wardrobe and accessories.
They can choose their own music to set the vibe.
Sitting fees with prints, including touch ups start at $229.
Parents often jump in for some shots, or coach from the side lines
"Photo Op" also offers party options.
Those cost $1,000 and up and include hair and make up.
It may not ultimately be about the product, but about the experience.
"Photo Op" is open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with additional hours upon request.
Photos are ready a week after the photo session.
