Police: LI driver runs light, hurts 3 in crash

Police on Long Island say a drunken driver ran a red light and hit two cars, injuring three people in one of the vehicles.

Nassau County police say 27-year-old Vincent Luisi was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer in Hempstead, N.Y. on Saturday when he ran a red light and struck a 2007 Honda and a 1998 Acura.

The three people in the Honda were all taken to area hospitals with serious injuries. Two of the victims are in critical condition and the third is in stable condition. The two people in the Acura were not injured.

Luisi was arrested on charges including aggravated vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated and reckless endangerment.

He was awaiting arraignment Sunday.

No information on an attorney for Luisi was available.
