Police say 41-year-old Brian Doherty was crossing Straight Path from east to west near 38th Street at around 6:46 p.m.
He was struck by a light colored four-door sedan heading north on Straight Path in the right lane.
A medivac landed on Sunrise Highway and transported the victim to Stony Brook Medical Center.
His injuries are not life threatening.
