Arrest in gruesome murder in Newark

NEWARK, New Jersey

/*Miradaliza DeJesus Jiminez*/ was reported missing on Friday. Four days later, police found her dismembered body inside an apartment in the West Ward section. Police arrested /*Eusebio Jacome*/, a 51 year-old Honduran, at the scene.

Acting on a tip, officers knocked on the door of Jacome's apartment on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say he refused to open, so officers forced their way inside to discover a blood-ridden apartment and what appeared to be the dismembered body of Jimenez.

The preliminary investigation indicates the cause of death is blunt force trauma, but the official cause of death will be determined following the autopsy.

Jacome has also been charged with murder, two weapons offenses for allegedly unlawfully using a weapon (a hammer) to carry out the murder and with desecrating the victim's lifeless body.

He is held on $1 million bail at the /*Essex County*/ Correctional Facility.

Jacome is due back in court next week.
