Gunman wounds Verizon worker in Irvington

IRVINGTON, N.J.

Shooting took place at 25 Montrose Terrace in /*Irvington*/, /*New Jersey*/ around 10:00 a.m.

The /*Verizon*/ worker was shot in the back. He managed to drive about one block and call 911 for help.

Victim is identified as /*Rasheen Deans*/ of /*Edison*/. He was listed in stable condition at UMDNJ.

According to police, Deans was working on a pole on Montrose Terrace.

As he came down off the pole, the young suspect tried to rob him and pointed a gun at him.

Deans, not taking the kids seriously, brushed it off. He described the suspect as a little kid who didn't know how to handle a gun.

The suspect then shot Deans and took off running.

Officers searched vacant homes for the suspect, but came up empty.

Police described the suspect as black, in his teens, wearing light colored jeans, a white hoodie and a black mask covering the lower part of his face.
