It happened last Thursday at a Pathmark in New Hyde Park, and police Monday released the surveillance video.
It shows the suspect taking a wallet out of a purse that was left unattended in a shopping cart.
He pulls the cash out and drops the wallet on a shelf.
When the victim confronts him, he pushes her and runs out of the store.
The victim suffered injuries from hitting her head on the floor.
