Woman stabbed to death in LES apartment

LOWER EAST SIDE

Raul Barrera said absolutely nothing to reporters as he was led out of the 7th Precinct in cuffs.

He had come full circle.

At about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Barrera walked into the exact same police station and told police he had just killed a woman; /*Sarah Coit*/, 23.

"She was screaming 'No, no, stop, stop!'. And there was all of [these] things going on and when we got in at 2:38 a.m. there were police everywhere," eyewitness Briana Andalore said.

Andalore was spending the night at a friend's apartment at 63 Clinton Street, where Coit shared an apartment with Barrera on an upper floor.

Police say the suspect repeatedly stabbed the victim and left her to die in a pool of blood.

When EMS crews arrived she was still alive but severely injured.

"We didn't know what was going on, we didn't think it was so severe so we looked out of the window and her whole head was like off, it was so horrifying," Andalore said.

Coit was suffering from multiple stab wounds around her neck.

She was taken to /*Beth Israel Hospital*/ where she was pronounced dead.

Police spent much of the day collecting evidence from inside the apartment.

/*Raul Barrera*/ is charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
