PBA award goes to officer who killed DJ Henry

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.

The student's parents said it is insensitive and arrogant to award the officer who fired the shots that killed 20-year-old Danroy Henry Jr. in October.

His father said, "Some people see themselves above the law."

The Police Benevolent Association of the Pleasantville Police Department says it honored Officer Aaron Hess for his dignity and professionalism since the shooting in Thornwood.

Hess, who was hit by Henry's car, was cleared of criminal wrongdoing by a Westchester County grand jury in February. The Henry family is seeking federal intervention.

The PBA said the award was not meant to offend the Henry family.
