Guardian Angels patrol Paterson after PD layoffs

PATERSON, N.J.

The anti-crime group is responding to the city decision to lay off 125 officers.

Dozens of officers have already turned in their badges and guns.

The police union is asking members to march from police headquarters to City Hall Monday to protest the cuts, which officially take effect today.

The police officers represent 25 percent of the force and were laid off last week due to budget cuts.

The group started doing similar work in Camden earlier this year.
