NYPD probe double stabbing; suspect in Russia

SHEEPSHEAD BAY

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly on Wednesday says investigators do not yet have probable cause to arrest Nikolai Rakossi in the slayings of his live-in girlfriend and her adult daughter.

Kelly says if they gather enough evidence to arrest Rakossi, they will contact the State Department for help. He says they want to speak to him regardless.

The man was seen on security camera leaving his building with two suitcases from the apartment, and bought a one-way ticket to Moscow that arrived Monday. The bodies of 56-year-old Tatyana Prikhodko and her 27-year-old daughter, Larisa, weren't discovered until five hours after Rakossi's plane took off.
