Gas close to $5 a gallon in Connecticut

The pain at the pump is now becoming acute.

Prices Wednesday night were hovering close to $5 a gallon in Connecticut.

Eyewitness News found a station in Stamford charging $4.99 a gallon.

Gas prices in Connecticut have gone up 34-cents a gallon since the beginning of the month.

The state average is $4.09.

Some consumer advocates say speculation on gasoline futures is driving up costs.
