Water restored in JC after sewer line break

JERSEY CITY

Several homes along a stretch of /*Culver Avenue*/ near /*Kennedy Boulevard*/ were affected.

Some basements were filled with up to five feet of water.

It took /*United Water*/ about two hours to shut the water off.

Some 30 homes and /*New Jersey City University*/ were without water for sometime, but it has since been restored.

Investigators are looking into what caused the ruptures in the water main and sewer line.

Utility crews were working on the sewer line Friday night, but it's not clear if the sewer line or water main broke first.
