35-year-old Antoine Means and 49-year-old Sharon Montgomery have been charged with burglary, robbery and assault.
Means and Montgomery are accused of robbing and assaulting 81-year-old Joe Naimo and his 75-year-old wife, Teodilinda.
The couple's 49-year-old son rushed to their aid, only to get beaten himself.
Despite spending weeks in the hospital recovering, Teodilinda later died.
The medical examiner is still determining whether her death was a result of the beating.
