The Royal Wedding

April 29, 2011

But I watched anyway.

Maybe it's because Kate Middleton is far closer to my daughter's age than me, and I'm thinking like a dad. (Come to think of it, she's closer to both my daughters' ages - one's 18 years, the other's 21 months.) Maybe it's because the once-boy prince, now a man, has the memory of his mother on his shoulder, and I can relate to that. (The mom part, not the prince part.)

My partner Liz Cho is in London tonight at 11, with a wrap up of the wedding fit for a future king. A wedding watched by about 2 billion people on TV worldwide.

Also at 11, we'll have the latest on the tornadoes that tore through several southern states, leaving at least 318 people dead. Pres. Obama toured Alabama today - the hardest hit area - and then went to Cape Canaveral, where the Space Shuttle Endeavor launch was delayed at least 48 hours because of a mechanical problem. Cong. Gabby Giffords is in Florida to watch her husband, Mark Kelly, commander of Endeavour.

Mr. Obama visited the Cape today, after his tour of Alabama, and met with Giffords and the Endeavor crew. The next launch window: Monday at the earliest.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Meteorologist Lee Goldberg with his AccuWeather forecast, Rob Powers with the night's sports. I hope you can join us, tonight at 11, after a special, two-hour 20/20 about today's royal wedding, hosted by Barbara Walters.
