Study links low-salt diet to increased stroke risk

NEW YORK

But a new study showed that people who consumed the least salt had a 56 percent higher risk of death from a heart attack or stroke than those with the highest consumption.

There's no firm explanation, but researchers emphasize that people with high blood pressure could still benefit from a low-salt diet.

The study is in the latest issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
