Thousands of Boy Scouts gather for NJ "Camporee"

SEA GIRT, N.J.

The third New Jersey State Police-Boy Scouts of America Camporee features numerous demonstrations by state police troopers and officials, including Superintendent Rick Fuentes.

The youths saw bomb robots, police boats and Army helicopters in action and also took part in various physical challenges - such as rock climbing overseen by guard members - and agility testing.

The youths also received emergency preparedness training to help them earn merit badges as part of the three-day event at the Sea Girt facility, which got under way Friday and will conclude around noon Sunday.
