Mugger attacks elderly siblings in the Bronx

BRONX

He pushed me and I fell on top of her, he says.

The heartless thief rummaged through Pilar Castro's pocket, stealing the wallet in which she carries her cash.

The incident happened almost two weeks ago, but police haven't been able to track down the suspect and hope someone might recognize the person in a surveillance photo.

They're bad, say the Castros. They're thieves who like to prey on the elderly, they say.

Every single day 89-year old Pilar and 87-year old Gabriel walk nearly two miles to visit their 91-year old brother.

On the morning of the attack, the spry seniors had just withdrawn money from an ATM on East Tremont Avenue in the /*Bronx*/.

Police believe the suspect followed the two inside their brother's building. The suspect rode the elevator one floor higher than the Castros, and then raced down the stairs.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, about 5 feet 5 inches with a ponytail. He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.

Pilar Castro says she wasn't injured.

Gabriel says the suspect ran off before he could grab a knife out of the kitchen.
